DPA, privacy policy and service terms

For most customer appointments, your business decides why it collects the details and Lunacal processes booking data on your behalf. These are the documents to give your privacy or procurement team.

  • Article 28: the DPA sets out the controller–processor arrangement.
  • Article 32: the DPA commits to appropriate security measures.
  • International transfers: the DPA refers to Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
  • Individual rights: the DPA covers assistance with requests and breach notification.

Does Lunacal store all booking data in the EU?

No. Lunacal’s privacy policy discloses processing in the United States. We do not publish an EU-only hosting commitment.

The DPA refers to SCCs for transfers outside the EEA. If your organisation needs complete SCC annexes, a subprocessor list or particular security terms, request these before approving the vendor.

Ask for the details needed to make the booking

Use custom questions for information such as the appointment type, name and email address. Add your privacy notice to the booking page and use the consent field when consent is the right legal basis.

If you also send promotional emails, ask for marketing consent separately where required. Avoid requesting health or other sensitive details without assessing the legal basis and safeguards.

Send booking confirmations and reminders

Lunacal can send confirmations, follow-ups and email or SMS reminders. Keep the message focused on the appointment—for example, its date, time and cancellation link.

Promotional messages are a separate decision. Check the relevant GDPR and national ePrivacy rules before adding marketing to the booking flow.

Collect appointment payments in EUR

Connect Stripe or PayPal and set the price for an appointment. Both providers support EUR for eligible merchant accounts. Lunacal adds no booking commission; payment-processing fees still apply.

Frequently asked questions

Read the Data Processing Agreement ↗
Is Lunacal GDPR-compliant appointment booking software?

Lunacal publishes a DPA covering processor obligations, security, individual-rights requests and international transfers. Using any booking platform in compliance with GDPR also depends on your own lawful basis, privacy notice, contracts, retention rules and configuration.

Does Lunacal have a Data Processing Agreement (DPA)?

Yes. The DPA is published here and states that it forms part of the applicable service agreement. If you need full exhibits, an SCC annex or a specific signature process, request those documents before approval.

Is booking data hosted only in the EU?

No EU-only hosting commitment is published. Lunacal discloses processing in the United States and refers to SCCs in its DPA. If your policy requires all data to stay in the EEA, check that requirement before subscribing.

Which languages can customers book in?

Lunacal lists 13 guest-facing languages, including German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish and Swedish. Translate your own service descriptions and privacy notice separately.

Will appointments show the customer’s local time?

Lunacal automatically detects the visitor’s time zone and supports different calendar and time formats, including 24-hour time. Test booking and confirmation messages around daylight-saving changes.

Do appointment reminders require a consent checkbox?

Not automatically. The correct lawful basis depends on your relationship with the customer and why you send the message. Treat marketing messages separately and check local ePrivacy rules.

Can I take EUR payments and create VAT invoices?

Eligible Stripe and PayPal accounts can take EUR payments through Lunacal. Use your payment or accounting system for any VAT-compliant invoice required by your country.

How do I handle a request to access or delete booking data?

Your business normally handles the customer request as controller. Lunacal’s DPA addresses processor assistance and deletion or return when the service ends. Check your connected calendars, CRMs and payment systems as well.

Let customers book online, in their language

Create a booking page, connect your calendar and review the DPA before you launch for EU customers.
