  • Melanie Gooi

Melanie is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores the curative power of art in unveiling hidden emotions and fostering inner awareness. With an interest in the intersection of movement, and contemplation, Melanie experiments with various mediums to translate these qualities into tangible forms.

Her practice began since 2017 with painting translucent layers and layering dip-dyed papers as a meditative and contemplative process. Each layer mirrored the unveiling of subconscious emotions—bringing them into awareness became a gateway to healing. Over time, her work evolved to include kinetic paper sculptures that create a gentle interplay of light, shadow, and motion, inviting moments of stillness and introspection. Since discovering embodied movement as a restorative support for her nervous system, she has integrated movement and music into her practice, using them as tools for mark-making to translate felt-sense experiences onto paper.

Through her artistic journey, she has found unexpected healing and hopes to inspire others on their path to self-reconnection and alignment. She is currently undergoing training to be a SomaSoul® somatic therapist and in April 2025 completed her Level Two Shake Your Soul® training as a Somatic dance and movement facilitator. She also completed her Level One Unleash Yourself Secret Sunrise dance facilitation training with Secret Sunrise Singapore.
