Your headshot (profile photo, branding materials) shouldn't just be another pretty picture, they should be one of the biggest parts of your marketing strategy. I'm Peggy, and I am a certified professional photographer. I opened my first studio in Arizona, on the Navajo Reservation, in 1994. In 2002, I moved my studio to Southern California, with studios in San Diego and Los Angeles. I'm currently based only in Los Angeles, but I still travel extensively for events.The Headshot Strategist® and TimeBenders™ are the teaching side of Headshots by Peggy. The Headshot Strategist® programs help actors and business people know exactly how to show up and get impactful images. I also train photographers how to run profitable businesses and how to take their photography studios to the next level through my TimeBenders™ programs.

How should I prepare for my session?How should I prepare for my session? Eat clean and drink lots of water a couple days before your shoot, and make sure you get a good night's sleep the night before. This really helps your skin and eyes look their best.What if I don't know how to pose? That's my job. I'll show you and teach you, and together we'll find your best look. Your job is to communicate what types of roles you're trying to get and what looks you're trying to achieve. After that, trust me. When you book, I'll send you a questionnaire that helps us communicate what looks we need to accomplish.What should I wear? Bring a variety of clothing, different necklines, and colors, bring colors! Avoid bringing all black, greys, and whites. Bring what you love. If you love it, you probably look good in it, and you're comfortable in it, but I can't shoot you in it if you don't bring it, so bring plenty of variety. I prefer solids, but small prints are fine. Remember, if you don't love it, don't bring it.What should I expect the day of? Come ready to have fun and play. Leave the stress and pressure of getting the perfect headshot to me; just come ready to enjoy yourself. Deep breath!If you're working with facial hair: Consider not shaving, and getting some shots with the stubble look, then shaving at the studio and finishing your session with a clean shaved look.If you're doing makeup and hair: Consider starting your session with little makeup and adding more as we go. Also, if possible, change your hair, down, up.Why does it matter if I match my headshot in person? Your image is often your first impression. You don't want your first interaction with a potential client, partner, or with casting to be a lie.If you're an actor, casting is expecting you to show up looking very similar to your headshot. If you're a business person, it can be really off-putting when someone is expecting one thing and meets someone else, it subconsciously plants some distrust.

This session is designed to prepare and equip you with the knowledge and insights to get the most out of your headshot and branding photos before you go to your photographer. I will prepare you with what you need to understand and communicate with your photographer to get the most effective images possible. As I will not be taking your images, I cannot guarantee any results, however, I will guarantee you will have an understanding of how you can best position your images for success. 

**This $300 Headshot Strategist® Session fee is non-refundable. If you book your headshot session with Headshots by Peggy, the full strategy session fee will be applied as a credit toward your headshot package.**
